In accordance with statistical data from the CO2 Professional Committee of China Industrial Gases Industry Association (hereinafter referred to as CIGIA), the capacity of national CO2 recycling devices may have been up to 10 million tons by far; on the other hand, their actual rate of operation is less than 50%. The industry profits are continuously reduced due to the over capacity. The industry (recycling and comprehensive utilization of CO2 from industrial gas emissions) which benefits the nation and the people is facing a serious survival crisis.
CO2 is a key element forming the natural ecology and the plant carbon fixation by means of sunlight is a rational way for governance of CO2. The agriculturaltheory and practice have proved that enrichment of CO2 may effectively lead to growth of the crop yield; in addition, the unique antimicrobial and antiseptic function of CO2 lets its huge applications be promoted in the food fresh-keeping and storage field. Large-scaled introduction of industrial CO2 into the agricultural field may be to solve the over industry capacity and increase the crop yield at the present stage, and form circulation of CO2 in the true sense.
CIGIA conforms to the industry development demand. Mr. DU Jun (the President of CIGIA) and Mr. PU Chungan (the secretary general of CIGIA) and so on specially went Dalian and held the ceremony for awarding the bronze tablet of “CIGIA CO2 Agricultural Technology R&D Center” in Zhonghao Guangming Research & Design Institute of Chemical Industry Corporation on June 8 to develop collection of practical data and exploration of the promotion methods for application of CO2 in the agricultural processes. We firmly believe this center gathering technical experts in various fields shall certainly become the technical support and communication platform for extending the new application fields of CO2.
