The plenary meeting of the Committee for revision of the national occupational classification system was held in Beijing on July 29, in which “Occupational Classification System of the People’s Republic of China (2015)” was reviewed and issued.
The revised primarily reflect those aspects as follows:
1. The occupational classification frame and categories are more scientific and standardized. In “Occupational Classification System of the People’s Republic of China (2015)”, there are 8 broad categories, 75 middle categories, 434 small categories and 1481 occupations in the professional classification structure. In comparison with “Occupational Classification System of the People’s Republic of China (1999)”, 8 broad categories are maintained; 9 middle categories and 21 small categories areadded; and 547 occupations are lowered. The name of Broad CategoryⅠis “CPC government organizations, state authorities, mass organizations and social organizations, managers of enterprises and institutions”; the name of Broad Category Ⅱ is “professional technology personnel”; the name of Broad Category Ⅲ is “clerks and relevant personnel”; the name of Broad CategoryⅣis “social production and life service personnel”; the name of Broad CategoryⅤis “agriculture, forestry, husbandry and fishery production and auxiliary personnel”; as for the Broad CategoryⅥ, there are a few revisions: its name is revised as “manufacturing and related personnel”; the middle category of “electric, thermal power, gas and water production and distribution personnel” is added; “inspection, calibration and measurement service personnel” and other service occupations are adjusted into Broad Category Ⅳ. There is no change for Broad CategoriesⅦ and Ⅷ.
2. Green occupations are marked for the first time in “Occupational Classification System of the People’s Republic of China (2015)”; and 127 green occupations are determined in total and marked with the first letter “L” of the Chinese pinyin.
